Final Update: The Health & Safety Edition

Published by SQ Team on

The Something Queer crew is just about to head up to the site to get it ready for all of our amazing queer fam. In this final pre-event message, we wanted to talk to you a bit about health and safety. As always, if you have questions, free to reach out if you have questions ([email protected]). On the day of the event, you can text us at 415-993-0040

Oh…we are now posting event updates on the website. https://somethingqueer.com/updates (we also posted the archived messages, if you want to read those).

COVID-19

Our official policy on COVID-19 is available on the website and we just wanted to comment on a few things. First, we are requiring that everyone who attends be fully vaccinated (that’s always been the case), so please make sure to bring proof of your vaccination with you to the event. We are not going to require that you show us proof of a negative COVID test. HOWEVER, we do want to just talk a bit about the importance of being good members of our community.

If you are feeling sick, please stay home. “Oh, it’s just allergies” — you are probably right, but how about you grab a rapid antigen test and just make sure? In fact, we strongly encourage each of our participants to take a rapid at home antigen test before coming up…just to be safe. We will have a very limited supply of tests on site in case anyone becomes symptomatic (just speak to the check in desk, find a crew member, or drop in to harm reduction). Again we want to do what’s best for our community.

So you know, the event is largely outdoors and many of the activities (besides sleeping in a cabin or dorm) can be done outside. Also, we are expecting great weather (see below). Questions?? Just reach out to us: [email protected]

Harm Reduction

In addition to being safe with COVID, we are also strong proponents of harm reduction. We ask that you please make sure to test any substances that you bring. We all know that Fentanyl adulteration is real and can be quite dangerous (along with other harmful compounds). Please look out for each other. We will have our volunteer harm reduction crew every evening during our party times — if you see someone who looks like they might need some help, let us know. We got each others’ back!

Weather

We think that the weather is likely going to be great. Please make sure to prepare for warm daytime temperatures (high 70s and 80s with sun) and then cooler evening temps (mid-40s). Bring and wear sunscreen!

Camper Profile Forms and Waivers

It’s your last chance to fill out the camper profile. We will be turning the system off Thursday morning as we head up to the site.

Rideshares!

We have a number of folx who are looking for rides to the event. If you have any extra room (even just a seat), please bring a fellow attendee with you. Who knows…maybe you’ll meet your new bestie! We want to make sure that everyone has a way to the event, so please check out the board: https://www.somethingqueer.com/rideshare/

Don’t Forget to Bring…

  • Your ticket (digital copy is okay)
  • Your vaccination record and ID (digital copy is okay).
  • Something to share for the snack table
  • A towel for the pool and/or showers
  • Something warm for the evening
  • A flashlight or headlamp
  • Something to drink out of by the pool (no glass!)
  • Your smiling face
